Filling up fast: Allen football season-ticket sales triple, capped at 7,500 in new Eagle Stadium June 20th, 2012

Allen football season-ticket demand has exceeded supply, and the school expects to triple its season-ticket allotment from 2,500 in 2011 to 7,500 in 2012, Allen ISD spokesman Tim Carroll said Monday.
Allen’s original seating plan set aside 5,000 chair-back reserved seats for season tickets in the new Eagle Stadium, which is slated to open Aug. 31 when Allen hosts Southlake Carroll. But because of high demand, Carroll said, the school will also make 2,500 bleacher-style seats available as season tickets. Those 2,500 seats were originally pegged for general admission. The new stadium’s capacity is 18,000 – up from 14,000 in the old stadium. All season tickets cost .
About 98 percent of season tickets were renewed by their holders, Carroll said. Of the 2,500 season tickets sold a year ago, less than 30 were returned by their holders after the 2011 season.
A lottery was held to sell the remainder of the 7,500 season tickets – some chair-back and some bleacher-style seats. Carroll said 1,742 people entered the lottery and received an assigned day to appear at the school’s athletic office and purchase tickets. Each person will be allowed to buy up to four season tickets until they’re sold out. People who drew early numbers in the lottery (1-200) are scheduled to buy season tickets on the first assigned day, July 16. There are eight other days scheduled in July for lottery entrants to buy tickets.
Seating breakdown for new Eagle Stadium
– 7,500 reserved seats on home side for season-ticket holders (5,000 chair-backs, 2,500 bleacher seats)
– 1,000 seats for Allen’s band, dance and drill teams
– 4,000 seats for Allen’s student section
– 5,000 seats for the away team
– 500 seats for day-of-game general admission

Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Jessica Alba, Carrie Underwood, & Christa B. Allen May 14th, 2012

Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Jessica Alba, Carrie Underwood, and Christa B. Allen. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.
Look 1: Jessica Alba’s Floral Bottoms

Jessica Alba always dresses stylishly, has debuted some extra stylish looks in the last few weeks. One particular look that caught my eye consisted of floral pants, a casual top, leather bomber jacket, gold chain necklace, and black pumps. The bomber jacket adds an athletic vibe to a more feminine look of the floral print pants, creating a chic outfit.

Shorts, Top, Jacket, Wedges, Necklace, Clutch
For an outfit inspired by Jessica, I wanted to make her look a bit more warm weather-appropriate, so I replaced the floral pants with some floral tap shorts. Pair them with a black top and a gold chain necklace to add some bling to the simple, classic shape of the top. For a an athletic vibe – which is a hot spring 2012 fashion trend - add a bomber jacket; this one is made of textured material which is lighter than leather for the season. Cork wedge sandals look great with the shorts, and these silver glittered ones bring out the colors of the shorts. Add a black clutch and you’re ready to go!
Look 2: Carrie Underwood’s Boho Denim Look

Songstress Carrie Underwood worked an ultra-trendy denim-on-denim look, and gave the popular trend a boho twist. She wore a fringed top with a collection of boho-chic necklaces, bracelets, and some nude open-toe heels. When putting together a denim-on-denim look, it’s important to make sure that the shades of denim are different – preferably, one darker shade and one lighter, to break up the uniform texture.

Jeans, Denim shirt, Top, Necklace (pendant), Necklace (beaded), Bracelets, Heels
Carrie’s look is a slightly dressier way to work a boho look, thanks to pieces like dark denim skinny jeans and nude open-toed heels. I envision this look for a night out to dinner with girlfriends, as it’s casual but still chic. This tie-dye frayed top is perfect for summer music festivals or trips to the beach, but with a denim shirt and some fun boho accessories, plus the dressier jeans and shoes, it becomes a bit more dressy.
Look 3: Christa B. Allen’s Fun Bright Look

Actress Christa B. Allen looked bright and ready for summer in a geometric multi-colored printed skirt, an orange top with cutouts, a white blazer, and black booties. While Christa wore her outfit for a daytime outing, I really like her look for a night out, especially if paired with heels. Christa’s choice of black colored shoes acts like a reverse pop of color – because the look is so bright to begin with, the black breaks up the color and anchors the look.
Outfit Inspired by Christa
Christa’s look centers around a colorful geometric printed skirt. Just looking at the one I’ve chosen is making me excited for summer! An orange top in a similar shape to Christa’s keeps with the brightness, as does a white drape collar blazer. Finally, black heels actually look bold and don’t overwhelm the look with too much color.

It’s been a grueling couple of days for the Cooper City softball team. Tuesday night the Cowboys made the trek to West Boca to play the Bulls in a Class 7A regional final.
After giving up three early runs, Cooper City came back to tie the game and force extra innings. That’s when the rains came, postponing the game in the ninth inning and sending the Cowboys back to Cooper City late in the evening.
Wednesday, a good chunk of the team napped on its way back up to Boca Raton to finish the game. They found just enough energy to score a pair of runs in the 11th on the strength of a single by junior Shannon Allen. Those runs proved enough to lift Cooper City to a 5-3 win over the Bulls and give Cooper City a berth in the regional championship.
In this video clip, Allen talks about her game-winning hit, the adversity Cooper City has faced since the transfer of former ace Chase Reddington and how tiring the past two days have been for her and her teammates.
