This past weekend, the Florida Athletic Coaches Association held its annual All-Star classics for both volleyball and cross country and South Florida was well-represented.

It was an impressive year for high school basketball in Broward County this season.

Between the boys and girls programs, Broward sent nine teams to the state tournament. Three–the Sagemont boys, the Dillard girls and the Hollywood Christian girls–won titles.

Now, the Florida Athletics Coaches Association is honoring some of the area’s top basketball players. Four girls players from Broward, along with Dillard coach Marcia Pinder (who this year became Florida’s winningest basketball coach), are headed to this weekend’s FACA All-Star Game in Daytona Beach.

Pinder will be an assistant coach for the South team during the girls’ game, which will tip off at noon Saturday, March 19th at Embry-Riddle University. Among the Broward players on the roster will be Cooper City’s Chanlir Segarra, Dillard’s T’Keyah Williams and Lauren McGraw and South Broward’s Kiara Shoats.

Surprisingly enough, though, no players from Broward were selected for the boys’ game, which is scheduled to tip off immediately after the girls game.
