Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.

Is there anything more classic than wearing a pretty eyelet dress on a warm spring day? This breezy fabric is a warm-weather staple, and you can incorporate it into your look whether you have a boho, super-feminine, or preppy sense of style.

This week, I’ll be showing you how to style a white eyelet dress for both a day of classes and a night out. Looking to get inspired? Keep reading!

Eyelet Dress: Class

Create a feminine, yet outdoorsy outfit for class by incorporating elements of bright mint and coral into your outfit. Belt your dress at the waist with a woven, printed belt for a boho feel, then add strappy coral sandals to get that music festival vibe going. I’ll admit, this dress totally reminds me of Marc Jacobs‘ Daisy perfume, so spritz some on, then grab a pair of daisy-shaped earrings. Complete the look with additional pops of color, like a sturdy coral tote and an embellished mint bangle.

Eyelet Dress: Night Out

Dress, Bag, Sandals, Bangles, Earrings, Headband

Put a boho-chic spin on your nighttime look with a pair of strappy heeled sandals in an earthy brown. Then, add a deep brown cross-body bag and a stack of colorful, embellished bangles for a worldly vibe. Grab a pair of geometric drop earrings in a soft melon hue to add another dash of color, and complete the ensemble with a little bling by sporting an embellished gold headband.

There’s nothing quite like a bold, colorful outfit to lift your spirits on a dreary winter day. With gray skies and slush-filled sidewalks dominating most of campus, sometimes you have to turn to your wardrobe to lighten things up a little. And what better way to do that than with a trendy geometric print?

This week, I’ll be showing you how to wear a geometric print dress for both a day of classes and a night out. If you’re looking to brighten up your winter wardrobe, read on!

To contrast the bold print of the dress, accessorize with earthy pieces, like geode-shaped earrings and a brown leather wrap bracelet. Floral skater skirts
Skirts: 1, 2, 3

Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.

Florals? In January? Yep!

Though bold, tropical prints can look a bit costume-y this time of year, an understated floral pattern (think roses or peonies) in a feminine, neutral color can actually look really stylish in the winter months. Don’t believe me? I’ll prove it!

If you’re looking for a way to wear chic florals this winter, look no further. This week, I’ll be showing you how to style a floral skater skirt for both a day of classes and a night out.

Floral Skater Skirt: Class

Skirt, Sweater, Tights, Bag, Brogues, Necklace, Earrings

For a sweet, feminine daytime look, pair your skirt with a simple mint green sweater. Soft pinks, like those on the skirt, look amazing with candy-colored hues… even in winter! Next, add a pair of metallic brogues for a twist on the classic, ladylike footwear. Accessorize with adorable bird-shaped studs and a spiked statement necklace for on-trend, edgy contrast. Finish with a rugged brown cross-body bag to hold your essentials, and don’t forget to warm up with a pair of gray tights!

Floral Skater Skirt: Night Out

For night, pair your girly skirt with sheer white blouse layered over a lace bandeau for a look that’s both put-together and unexpectedly wild. Next, add trendy contrast with a rough faux leather jacket (also an excellent choice for keeping warm on chilly winter nights). Keep your accessories simple but edgy – try out a pair of cool lion-shaped studs and a stack of gold-toned bangles to add a bit of sparkle. Complete the look with a modern classic – a pair of grey suede ankle booties.

Class to Night Out: Sequin Blazer   December 22nd, 2012

Sequin blazer

Blazers: 1, 2

Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.

We’re deep into the holiday season and on our way to New Year’s Eve, and that means it’s time to wear lots of sparkle! This week, I’ll be showing how to incorporate a sequined blazer into wardrobe, with looks for both day and night.

If you think you can’t pull off a sequin blazer for class, or even a night out on your campus, don’t worry – it can totally be toned down for daytime! The day look is perfect for a family holiday party or a day of shopping with the girls, while the night look would suit your most formal holiday gatherings. (Or even a Classy Christmas-themed party!)

Still interested? Let’s take a look at the outfits!

Sequin Blazer: Class

Blazer, Sweater, Jeans, Boots, Bag, Earrings

To dress down your red carpet-worthy blazer, layer it over a collared sweater in a fun, Christmasy color. Next, add a pair of classic dark wash skinny jeans. This keeps the look formal while giving you a distinct casual elegance. Tall black riding boots and a matching quilted messenger bag add some laid-back sophistication, while simple gold studs lend a tiny extra touch of shine to complete the look.

Sequin Blazer: Night Out

Sometimes, mixing textures can be tricky, but this look plays it right because all the textures contrast in subtle ways. To get a look that’s ready for a holiday party, wear your blazer under a cranberry red dress with sheer detailing for a look that’s quintessentially Christmas. Add texture (and warmth!) with a pair of floral tights, and accessorize with a festive deep green cross body bag and rhinestone-embellished pearl earrings.

Your thoughts?

Would you wear a sequin blazer? How would you style it? Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know what you think of the outfits – I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Class to Night Out: Pussy Bow Blouse   November 24th, 2012

Pussy bow blouses

Blouses: 1, 2

Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.

Okay, so blouses are pretty standard wardrobe staples, even for us college girls – after all, we all have that one nice button-down for job interviews. But blouses are not something you’d wear to class, and definitely not on a night out, right? Think again! It’s easier than you think to style a conservative blouse in a trendy, or even sexy way. All it takes is the right styling.

To liven things up about, try out a blouse in a sheer style that’s perfect for layering, or opt for one with a fun print. This week, I’ll be showing you how to style a trendy pussy bow blouse for both a day of class and a night out.

Pussy Bow Blouse: Class

Blouse, Jeans, Satchel, Boots, Belt, Earrings

To give this chic and polished top a more casual feel, pair it with dark wash skinny jeans for a refined yet effortless look.

When it comes time to accessorize, keep the pieces classic. (Think preppy, if you dare!) Try out a pair of deep brown riding boots with a matching waist belt, and a neutral-toned satchel. Keep things from getting too formal with a fun pair of stud earrings. I’m digging these skulls, but you could try anything from hearts to spikes to cupcakes!

Bring out your inner bad-girl by pairing your blouse with a (faux!) leather studded skater skirt. This wild look balances out the more conservative top, which lets you get away with showing more leg than usual. Add sparkle with a gold detailed belt, then accessorize with simple black suede pumps and leopard heart-shaped earrings that match the bow print purrfectly. Complete the look with a spiked clutch that’s both edgy and totally on-trend.

Dresses: 1, 2, 3

Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.

Oh, did you think I meant leopard print? Well, think again! We’ve already sung the praises of animal graphic sweaters this season, so if you’re an animal lover, why not add a dress into the mix? Cat dresses may make you feel a bit like you’re playing dress-up, but even the cutesiest dresses can still look chic and mature. A cat dress is the ultimate in quirky, ultra-feminine fashion… and I think even Zooey Deschanel might be jealous of this one.

This week, I’ll be showing you how to style a black “cat face” dress for both a day of class and a night out. Read on – you know you’re curious!

Cat Dress: Class

how to style a cat dress for day with yellow blazer gold brogues patterned tights gray messenger bag and black studs

Dress, Blazer, Brogues, Bag, Tights, Earrings

Pair your dress with a bright yellow blazer for a bold daytime ensemble. The crisp blazer adds a tailored, sophisticated definition to your look, so you won’t look like a little girl playing dress up. Add texture and edge with a pair of fun patterned tights, but keep the rest of your accessories simple. Try simple black stud earrings and a grey messenger bag. Complete this show-stopping outfit with a pair of metallic gold brogues – because who says shimmer is only for night?

Cat Dress: Night Out

how to style a cat dress for night with velvet plum pumps quilted cross body bag leopard bangles and black jewel drop earrings

Dress, Pumps, Bag, Bangles, Earrings

Keep your night look fun but glamorous by trying out a pair of velvet pumps. I absolutely adore these deep plum heels from H&M! Gold, black and leopard print bangles emphasize the “catty” element of the look, while black drop earrings keep things sophisticated. Add a retro-inspired quilted cross-body bag, and you’re all set!

Your thoughts?
