I had a chance to check in with St. Thomas Aquinas today about ticket sales for Friday night’s game against Columbus at Sun Life Stadium, and as expected, things are going well.

If you don’t yet have your tickets, you have two options: buy them at the door Friday night (They’ll cost you there) or buy them during lunch at St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday. Lunch period at the school ends at 12:30.

To get you ready for the game, here’s Raiders linebacker Scott Northcutt talking about what the game means to South Florida high school football and the St. Thomas community.

When it comes to girls soccer, there’s no doubt Douglas and St. Thomas Aquinas are two of the state’s powerhouse programs.

Last season, St. Thomas won its 11th state championship–a Florida record. But Douglas isn’t far behind. The Eagles have won five titles, good enough for third among all of the state’s programs.

In 2004 and 2005, both the Raiders and Eagles claimed state titles while playing in different classifications.

That won’t happen this year.

Reclassification has put the two powerhouse programs in Class 5A this season and both teams won their regional quarterfinals on Tuesday. That means they’ll meet Friday in a regional semifinal and one will see its season come to an end.

Here, St. Thomas Aquinas junior Jessica Hoyt talks about the Raiders upcoming matchup with the Eagles.

Over the course of the past 10 years, Dwyer and St. Thomas Aquinas have become two of the biggest powers on both the state and national stage.

But during most of that span, the two teams were in different classifications, allowing both to thrive and win state titles while not meeting in the playoffs.

That changes Friday.

Reclassification put Dwyer and St. Thomas into the same class–7A–and now, the two will meet for a state semifinal berth.

Here’s Dwyer quarterback Faton Bauta, a Georgia commit, talking about the upcoming game:
